Webmasters, Time And Effort is Required to Increase Web Traffic
Without a great deal of web traffic, there is absolutely no point owning a web site. Today the Internet medium has become very competitive, and millions of users are vying for attention, as many sites will have similar content. Thus various methods have to be explored to increase web traffic to the site. While there are some who have the money to spend to market their sites, others don’t.
There are free methods as well, and site owners should think about getting some training or tips from professionals to increase web traffic to the site. Once techniques are explored, then the ways to increase traffic to the site may look easy to site owners. One free way to increase traffic is to use the method of exchanging links with other sites.
It can be done with sites that have similar content, as readers will obviously be looking for more information. Search engine optimization techniques are very important to follow. The first of those will be the use of rich keywords in the sites. Next the content of the site is meant to be focused on, and quality cannot be compromised.
The titles and the headlines must scream that the content is unique, and that the site is worth taking a look at. Link popularity is probably one of the biggest ways to attract traffic, as this is a sure way to be recognized by search engines. They will get indexed by search engines, and thus users will know that the site has been noted by the best search engines, and they will automatically visit the site.
Meta tags can be added and all sites must be registered with search engines. Most of the search engines will allow free submissions, and it must be remembered that half the traffic to your site is through search engines. Once this has been done, it will help a great deal if the site is being updated especially with the content.
If the content is being changed and improved every few months, then visitors are likely to keep coming back to the site. There are free site directories as well, which will allow submission of sites. The site must be submitted to as many directories as possible. The accessibility of the site is important, thus it has to be built the right way.
If it is kept simple, more visitors are likely to use the site, as they would be bored waiting for any flash versions to load. RSS feed is the next in line, and this option is also free. This way plenty of people will begin interacting with the site. Writing as many articles as possible about the site, and posting them on article directories is a sure way to increase traffic.
Keep in mind that the content of the articles have to be keyword rich. The promotions must be regular, and the news updates must be fresh every time. This will give a fresh look to the site and will attract a lot more traffic.

Keep the basics right. Well posted, Squeaky. On-page optimisation, along with good quality links from relevant, authorative websites is a sure-fire way to increase organic traffic.
Your spam filter just spat this back at me, stating that my comment appears to be spam, and my reply isn’t relevant to your posting. It doesn’t make sense, but hey, not all automated sytems are perfect, I suppose!
Increasing organic traffic (free traffic from search engines) to your web page relies mainly on the two factors I mentioned in the first paragraph, so am unsure why my comment is deemed unacceptable?

Ah I see now! My post was rejected again, it seems the spam filter didn’t like the anchor text I was using in my signature, oops….

The spam filter is setup so I must approve your first submission. I haven’t seen that message that you received yet. I will have to look and see if there is anything I can tweak. Thanks for stopping by and looking around.

Goran,
Since I started including SEO in my articles, I have picked up close to 80 extra unique visitors per day from the search engines. Not bad for free targeted traffic and for the little extra time I spent adding SEO to the articles. It is a very good return….

agreed..
building web traffic takes time and alot of effort… if u r going to take a shortcut like buy traffic you want to make sure you get their contact information to make it worthwhile

@Traffic2MyPage, usually shortcuts like paid traffic do not work, because most of the time it’s not targeted traffic. In the long run, you spend a lot of money and you may have achieved a high Alexa ranking, but really what have you gained from it?
