Leave blog comments and get free web traffic!
A very easy blogging trick to increase traffic to your site is to comment on other blogs. It is also a good method of building some backlinks and should help page rank in Google as well.
It is usually a very simple process which allows you leave your name and your website URL hyperlink.
If you comment is interesting enough and not spam, it can compel others to click on your hyperlink and visit your site. Also if the blog is popular where you left the comment on, it could send you hundreds of new visitors just from a single post.

Yes comment does generate traffic and when you comment on popular blogs you get tons of traffic. But I also want to add that, more often than not, you have to be among the earliest to comment or when you get buried under 20 or so comments people will most likely never read your comments at all.
