If you are a web site owner that is dependent on the amount of your sites Alexa traffic, then you need to maximize your sites potential for earnings. So, now is the time to get down to where the rubber meets the road and work on improving your Alexa rankings.
“There are a couple of simple things which you can do to improve your Alexa rank, that you may be over looking.”
The most important thing to keep in mind when looking at Alexa statistics is that they’re all solely calculated on the data obtained from their Alexa Toolbar users.
Your Alexa website traffic ranking is based upon the combined measurement of reach and page views.
Reach is the calculation of the amount of web surfers who visit a site. Alexa Page views are calculated by the total number of requests for a website’s URL, per Toolbar user. Multiple requests by the Web surfer on the same day/same URL are calculated as a single page view. Also, page views are provided and scaled in a graph, to be easily readable. The site with the highest combination of users and page views is ranked #1.
Simple ways to improve you Alexa traffic:
1. Use the <!–more–> tag when you create a post. This will automatically add a break in your post and displays a short preview of your posts on your home page. Each preview includes a link to view the full post and that will give you a extra page view.
There are many of these plugins for WordPress, so just do a search for, “WordPress Excerpts Plugins,” and you should be able to locate something to suit your needs.
2. If you a web directory owner, you may want to consider running a submission special on your main page. Give your users some basics about your submission special and include a link to another page in your directory or blog with the full details of your current submission specials. This will give you another page view according to Alexa.
Now, these methods aren’t going to tip the scales, but they will help maximize your web sites potential. Give it a try and report back if it made a difference in improving your Alexa rankings.
