New Avenues for Bloggers

Posted in Blogging Articles by squeaky @ Jan 4, 2008

The wireless technology harnessed in the 21st century has opened up new avenues for individuals to give vent to their creativity. You can now sit at home and generate the desired income by writing online or buying and selling commodities on the online market place. Most web based companies design their web pages in a way that their customers are attracted to the reading material available on the products or services offered by that particular company. Even private individuals who take on creative writing as online authors design home pages to introduce the content of the books to the visitors.

The term “blog” is basically the abbreviated version of the word “web-log”. The term web log indicates a space wherein there is a description or information on a particular site, product or service being promoted online. However, unlike advertisements, a blog is not information in short catchy lines or phrases. A blog has detailed information on the product or service being offered. It is the visitor’s first insight into the website accessed. Blogs are updated very frequently and today, they are witnessing a makeover. Blogs, today, are like personal web sites that offer the visitors a diary like commentary. Blogs are now also designed to offer the visitor to the web site links to other web sites.
There are different kinds of blogs. There are personal blogs and political blogs and similarly those that highlight and focus on a whole range of subjects. Most of the time, a blog is designed to focus on the contents of the web site in question. For example, if the website is designed for the sale of jewelery, then the blog would target offering content on the different metals and gems used in jewelery making and jewelery cleaning tips. The topics, in this case, would regularly be changed to give visitors information on other aspects of buying and maintaining jewelery, while at the same time, the blog would promote the jewelery being offered on that particular site. Some blogs are more informative and offer the visitors links to other sites connected in some way with the business of the host site.
There are certain things that blogs have in common. For example, most blogs have a designed content area. This area on the screen is used to list the articles associated with the host site. The lists are always extensive and in chronological order, with the latest additions featuring right on top. Also there is an archive maintained that enables visitors to access information made available in some of the articles written earlier. Most blogs have a special space designed to encourage visitors to enter their comments and suggestions. The blogs today also make available a whole dedicated list of links to other associated web sites. This “blog-roll” is very useful for the visitor who wishes to further the knowledge availed of and read on before making any sort of investment. Blogs also have “feeds” in the form of atom, RSS or the popular RDF.
