Basically, drive-by-droppers are people which drop on your Entrecard widget and run, without reading and/or commenting on your blog posts. The result of this, creates a very high bounce rate which has a very negative effect on Google Adsense pay-per-click rates and possibility of other factors if you have a high-bounce-rate ratio.

Another decision factor was, an Affiliate not accepting Squeaky’s - Madmouse Blog, on account of the Entrecard widget and the use of their social network program. There again, part of their decision was based upon the kind of traffic the blog is getting. While you can get a lot of traffic through Entrecard and your Alexa ranking can look very good, it is now being considered fake/false traffic by many.
So, I made a decision to remove the Entrecard widget off Squeaky’s blog, because I would rather take a hit on my web traffic for a lower bounce rate. We should all know by now that Google is seeking after quality page content, doesn’t like duplicate pages and meta tag duplicate content either. So, I had to ask myself, since Google has dropped my Adsense pay-per-click rates, are they fore warning me that of what they think of Entrecard traffic and the high bounce rate? It makes one think, that is for sure!

Link baiting is used by websites all over the world. How many times have you checked your e-mail or received an IM or PM from a friend saying, “You have to come check this out!”, complete with a link to some feature or another on that website? That site has just used the power of link baiting to draw a larger audience of viewers to their domain with the assumption that if they come to look, they’ll stay to browse-and maybe to buy.

When you’re preparing to launch a full link baiting campaign you need to put careful thought into the quality of the content you want to use. There are two reasons for this:

1) No one is going to be interested in picking up boring content. They’re not going to send an e-mail to all of their friends telling them to come see a site that’s showing you live feed of a flower growing…day after day after day. It’s dull, it’s monotonous, and your viewers are going to lose interest very quickly! On the other hand, link bait that is entertaining, humorous, controversial, news related or otherwise attention grabbing is going to be picked up and passed around rapidly, exponentially increasing the quantity of your high quality links. Which brings us to point two…

2) It’s not just quantity but quality that counts when a search engine is analyzing the backlinks to your site to determine its relevance. That means that you want to have lots of backlinks, but you want them to be high quality backlinks too. Think of it this way: If you were applying for a job working in a bank, and you needed a reference, who do you think would be a better choice, the manager of the local bank downtown with whom you interned in high school or the local mechanic who’s known you all your life? The bank can vouch for your skills and your aptitude in your field of choice, which is precisely what a well placed backlink will do for you. You want to create high quality content that will encourage the addition of a link to your site on high quality, relevant sites that will be able to improve your credibility with the search engines.

Link baiting is a marvelous marketing strategy, and if you’ve been putting careful thought into the creation of your site you should have no problem developing high quality content that makes excellent link bait.

The Description for this message will read; “Some URLs listed in this sitemap have a high response time.  This may indicate a problem with your server or with the content of the page.”

Google views a site’s high response time as a deterrent to searchers, who prefer websites that load quickly.  If you receive this alert, Google is in effect warning site managers that their site is taking too long to load and may be timing out during the loading process.  Google interprets a site’s high response time as an inability to handle Google’s web traffic.  As a result, the site’s ranking will most likely be lowered.  The lowering of the site’s ranking will adversely affect the number of hits the site receives.

There are three steps site managers can take to stay advised as to how Google views their site and the site’s high response time.  Web managers should verify each site through Google’s Webmaster Tools.

Once the site is verified, the site manager should monitor the crawl rates.  If the crawl rates indicate a high response time, the manager should try to rearrange the composition of the site.  If the problem persists, site managers may need to search for a new web host to counteract the negative consequences of Google’s high response time warning.
