Squeaky, Get’s Alexa Boost by Dropping Entrecards
Dropping Entrecards is a very successful method to boost my Alexa rankings. It is my opinion that Alexa still has some flaws in their ranking process. In order for it to work effectively, it would require that all Internet surfers have the Alexa toolbar installed.
For the most part, there is just a small niche of Internet surfers that actually surf the web using the Alexa toolbar. I am more inclined to believe that people in the technical and advertising industry are more likely to use it. So, the Entrecards categories that seem to work out the best for me are, Internet Marketing, Marketing, Make Money Online, Blogging Resources, Web Development and Business categories.
Currently, Squeaky’s Madmouse Blog has gained page one status in the blogging resources category on Entrecards. Pretty good results considering that I had just started up with Entrecards two weeks ago, and spend less than one hour per day.

I use Alexa extensively to find sites to advertise on. It has its place.
I use it in addition to Quantcast to find the right people and place.
Alexa finds the site, Quantcast makes sure they’re the right demographic.

I haven’t heard of Quantcast, will have to check it out. Thanks for the information….

hum interesting info there. I didn’t know that by using entrecard you can increase your alexa rank.
A lot of people have said that Alexa is unreliable but still everyone looks to it to find out the sites.

One of my friends started with Entrecards last week and it made a good jump in his Alexa stats as well. His URL for Entrecards detail page is, http://entrecard.com/details/32551
Checkout the jump in his Alexa stats as well, pretty cool……

The newly updated Alexa Traffic Ranking is just terrible. Sites with much less traffic are better ranked than sites with much more traffic. Just ridiculous.

Since I joined entrecard, my blog traffic also increased and I discovered a lot of fascinating websites.

Hi Squeaky
Why would a sites Alexa ranking increase by using an Entre Card, do you know the reason for this. I will give it a go but I cant understand why. Well I guess nothing on the Internet “really” makes sense.
I am new to the whole web marketing thing, so learning as I go. Thank you. I like your design.

Alexa ranking were solely dependent on the Alexa toolbar being installed on your Internet browser. They have changed their method of gathering information for their rankings, I believe it helped. Now, their toolbar isn’t the only source which is used to gather data.
April 28th, 2008 at 6:09 am
While toolbar is not the only source to gather data, I believe it is still the source to gather the data. Most webmasters either Have Alexa toolbar in their IE, or Alexa plugin for their firefox which is a tracking device. So basically every person who visit your site to drop a card is counted as your visitor, and I am sure that people are now visiting your site that were not doing so before which make them new unique visitors for your site … (More traffic) .. More unique traffic = possible increase in alexa….
The link squeaky(Steven) gave in his comment about a friend
http://entrecard.com/details/32551
It is my link. I have an increase of about 200 uniques daily from entrecard to my site and it has boosted my alexa rank from low 200k to about 160k range. Which will also go down to under 100k hopefully.

That is a good boost in traffic and rankings.

Heard before the traffic and rankings by Alexa are often deceiving and for those users having their
toolbar will benefit from the system. Is that true?
May 4th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
For the most part, in the past getting Alexa stats from their toolbar was ineffective. This is on account of most of Alexa users are in more of a niche group of people such as, bloggers, site publishers and marketing.
Before the latest changes, Alexa only collected data the toolbar. With the latest changes, Alexa is now collecting their data set beyond just the toolbar data.
Alexa’s stats have always been under question, since there is only a small percentage of Internet surfers that use the toolbar.

Most of Bloggers chose to rely on Google PR. So do I

I think PR is still something which is good to have, but I don’t think it is something we can solely count on at the moment. Traffic is just as important because without it, you really don’t make many sales.
Hopefully PR will stabilize and then, maybe it will gain back some trust from the ones that don’t believe it is as important as it use to be.

Advertisers will only advertise relative to that perceived value to Google PR. Is that true? The higher the rank, the demand is more.
