The New and Improved, “Alexa”
There is the word on the street today that Alexa has changed their algorithm, and they no longer depend on their toolbar as the one and only source of their traffic rankings. This is an attempt to address the problem that many web sites get visitors which do not have the Alexa toolbar installed.
Alexa continues to improve their product by pulling data from other sources to get a more accurate traffic rank for websites. For those of you that check your Alexa rankings regularly you should start seeing those new changes very soon. This is great news that the toolbar is no longer a major factor in getting better Alexa rankings.
Squeaky…..

The new algorithm is ridiculous.
Sites with much less traffic are better ranked than mine. Bull crap.

For madmouse.com, over 34% of our visitors are Vista users. We also have 8% which are Mac users as well. So, we have a total of 42% of our visitors which Alexa could not track using the toolbar as the only means of gathering ranking stats for us. Overall, I am very happy with the new algorithm.

I think at Mashable, where I left a link to my recent alexa experiment post, somebody said that alexa could work with Mac.
Also-like that front page its similar to what I’m doing, but better looking!
