Hunters have until Friday, July 13, to apply for one of six antlerless elk permits offered this year by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The hunt is being held to reduce the elk population, located in a zone around Grygla in northwestern Minnesota, from the present level of 55 animals. There will be no bull permits offered this year as six bull elk mortalities were documented in 2006
