Ministry of Defence is responsible for the formulation, co-ordination and the execution of policies in relation to the security of the country. Our mission formulations and execution of strategies with regard to defence and safeguarding territorial integrity and sovereignty of Sri Lanka. In pursuance of the above objectives the Ministry of Defence provides policy directives and guidelines to the Departments functioning under it.
The Government of India is responsible for ensuring the defence of India and every part thereof. The Supreme Command of the Armed Forces vests in the President. The responsibility for national defence rests with the Cabinet. Ministerial Services is part of the Executive Government Support group of the Department of Internal Affairs. Ministerial Services is located in Bowen House, Parliament. Services provided include accommodation, staffing, computer facilities and the VIP Transport Service. This group also includes the Media and Communication unit, the New Zealand Gazette, the Translation Service, and the Visits and Ceremonial Office.
